Crease/Edge Reconstruction
« on: February 08, 2018, 01:46:30 PM »
Does anyone know a way to automatically reconstruct creases/edges with Meshmixer, along the lines of what is shown in these links:

https://www-sop.inria.fr/geometrica/software/cgalmesh/church.html
https://www-sop.inria.fr/geometrica/software/cgalmesh/creases.html

If no, would it be possible through scripting (which I know little about), or is there some chance this could be integrated into Meshmixer at some point -- for photogrammetric models of buildings, I can't state how much manual sculpting it would save...

Unfortunately there's no edge reconstruction in MM. Know this problem dealing with scans quite well... wish we had.
Here's some related topic with a solution to reconstruct hard edges if there are real planar surfaces: http://meshmixerforum.com/index.php?topic=4785.msg10149#msg10149

Well there's mm-api scripting meant to remote control MM. As there's no function in MM to reconstruct hard edges there's no ready made api command. But with the right external (home made) algorithm one might do it ... going a VERY hard road...

Some chance to see this in MM in a nearer future? IMO: Can't imagine - so sorry (hopefully I'm wrong).
I'm just a user as you are. Being no Autodesk employee: I do not know where this road will lead to, nor do I claim to've all stuff got right.
