May i ask some question
« on: October 02, 2017, 12:27:13 PM »
Hi there, My name's Sindy
I need to convert an stl (list of triangles) file into a solid mesh (list of tetrahedra) suitable for finite element methods.
I would be happy with any human-readable file format.
I tryed many softwares (not all of them yet) and MeshMixer is the first one I found that can build such a mesh (Edit->Make Solid) with my huge and complicate file.

The result looks good, now I need it outside of MeshMixer ??????????????????????
I tested all the export but I can't see any tetrahedra in the resulting file, did I missed something?

thanks

Well the name "MakeSolid" maybe somehow misleading...

The tool makes a mesh watertight closing open boundaries. But it stays just a triangle surface - sorry.

Here Tyson pointed to a library which might help:

I'm just a user as you are. Being no Autodesk employee: I do not know where this road will lead to, nor do I claim to've all stuff got right.
