Optimizing Texture Map
« on: September 11, 2017, 01:31:48 PM »
What is the best way to ensure our models have a smooth transitioning texture map?  Sometimes, I open the model in Photoshop and the map is broken up into many pieces that make it difficult to draw smooth transitions.

I think you have to pay for it ($20 a month or something), but loading a model into Autodesk ReMake, and selecting the "rebake textures" option on export will create a "more" orderly texturemap....still probably not the best (like hand retopo and UV unwrapping), but the maps are much nicer than what comes out of my Artec Scanners, from an "orderly" standpoint.

If you are a student, even one that takes one class at a community college, you can get a free 3-year student license of most Autodesk products, including ReMake.
