My third MeshMixing experiment
« on: May 21, 2011, 03:49:00 AM »
And this is my third meshmixing experiment. But this time without mixing anything, just testing the sculp brush starting from the base sphere. There are many things to fix about volumes and proportions, but I think it will become a good model.

Keep on meshing, it's becoming a sort of snail (or slug, crawler !?!?) driver.

Some small modifications to the volumes and proportions, and a better render with modo, just a bit of GI light and SSS. Only for the fun of different point of view  together. Keep on meshing.

I've textured the slug in modo,  it's becoming really nice, I think at least! I removed the "horror creature like" teeth for a much more funny tongue. Next time I'll try a full free software pipeline with MeshMixer, Gimp, Blender and LuxRender, which seems to be an incredible render engine (maybe a little slow with 4 cores...) .
Now it's time for the body, the hardest part!
Hope you like it.

After some months this model finally comes to an end. The driver creature model comes directly from MM with his 150.000 triangles. The render is done with Modo and a bit of integration and post with Photoshop. Hope you like it.

Wow, it changed quite a bit from the original concept but it came out very nicely. Maybe the sand around the snail is little too flat to give the sense of weight and movement, but aside that I like the concept very much. Nice work stefano. ;)

Your final product looks really great. It was really interesting to see it evolve from your original concept. Thanks for sharing. :)
