Title: How to use plane-cut api
Post by: francesco289 on June 26, 2015, 09:19:33 AM
Hello everyone.
I'm a beginner and I'm struggling with the plane-cut tool API.
In particular, I tried different params for a normal (vector):

mm.set_toolparam(remote,"normal", (0,0,1))

and gives me (with the bunny) the same result as
mm.set_toolparam(remote,"normal", (1,0,0))

Is normal the normal vector? Is there a way to show on meshmixer some axys with some measures to understand how the vector works?

I am not sure you can directly set the normal parameter...I think that may only work for reading back the plane normal (sorry don't have the code in front of me).

I believe you have to set the "rotation" parameter, i.e. a matrix that rotates the initial normal (0,1,0) to point in the direction you want.

You may have luck using origin instead of normal.
